Producer/Director Erahm Christopher traveled to Spokane, WA to accompany a screening of his film "LISTEN" and facilitate discussion following the film. The audience included community members, parents, students, teachers, and several educational leaders from the region. The discussion centered on improving mental health in our families, community, and schools, primarily through changing our definition of listening and how we listen.
Audience members shared personal stories and connections to the characters in the film, as well as concerns they have for our children. The film served as a critical reminder that each of us can have an impact on improving mental health simply through building new habits for active listening.
Earlier in the day, students at Spokane Valley High School in West Valley School District had the opportunity to watch the film and engage with Erahm Christopher. They also received training in active listening. Students reported feeling that more educators and parents needed to see the film and that they were glad they had the opportunity.
