Summary:
AIER and WaCharters teamed up to put on a conference on school innovation for local educators and programs. We had about 60 folks in attendance. The conference featured eight (8) workshops, an inspiring keynote address, and a spectacular lunch.
Conference Goals:
Hold creative conversations about school design and re-thinking, with a network of innovative practitioners
Share resources for strengthening the connection between student learning and their family and local community
View student work and listen to student voice
Discuss problems of practice with other innovative practitioners
Experience hands-on workshops that model and inspire innovative teaching practices (i.e. project-based learning, alternative/mastery-based assessment, methods for strengthening school culture
A wide variety of workshops were offered, including:

Exhibition and Graduation - the TCS Model – with Dr. Cindy McMahon
Pedagogy and Student Voice with Kelly Niccolls EdD. and a student panel

Real-world connections in the classroom with PJ Jarvis, Stephanie Koch, Sucia Dhillon
Games in school with Tammie Schrader
Keynote Address with Delvone Bullis
By all accounts the conference was a big success – thanks for all who came and participated – and a special thanks to all those who presented wonderful workshops.
